What is Transmodel?

TransModel provides a common conceptual model for describing Public Transport data and systems. The model provides an extensive framework with which to represent  the entities and properties of objects in the domain of public transport provision, including, network timetabling, operations ticketing and operations.  The model is based on a systematic modelling approach with a careful separation of concerns. 

The Transmodel data model is abstract, that is, it provides a rich general model covering most known requirements for public transport systems.

Transmodel is expressed as an ER model, an UML model, and an extensive specification of entities, concepts and relationships

How is Transmodel used?

Transmodel is used as a design tool to inform and guide design of PT Information  systems. PTI systems should use the terminology  and separation of concerns that Transmodel makes. The concrete data models and interfaces of PT systems should map onto entities and relationships of the Transmodel abstract model. Transmodel can be used to suggest the exact models to use.
